Cordoba, Luxury Tailor-made Holidays in Argentina

Cordoba, Argentina
Although Cordoba is possibly not on the top of most peoples "must visit" list when thinking of a holiday in Argentina - it should be. Cordoba is widely considered to be Argentina’s ‘second city’. Its early history as a Jesuit ecclesiastical and educational centre set it apart culturally from Argentine provinces.

Katherine, Argentina expert:Cordoba is a great city with a really buzz about it and a young vibe – I lived there for 6 months and can honestly say that the Cordobese are some of the most welcoming people I’ve ever met. Once you’ve had a wander around the city to admire the Jesuit architecture, I’d recommend stopping for a ‘mate’ (a tea infusion and big part of Argentine culture, pronounced mat-ay) to get a real taste of the local lifestyle.

Argentina Holidays, Luxury tailor-made Itineraries to Latin America

There are relatively few tourists here and it feels just that little bit off the beaten track – which we like and think you will too! It is one of those places that you won't want to leave and makes you very glad that you came.

Córdoba can be visited all year round and has a temperate rather than Mediterranean climate. Generally, the months between November and February are the hottest, bringing days of 29°C (84°F) and pleasantly warm nights.

This is also the rainy season and despite frequent storms during these months, the city still gets plenty of sunshine.

Winters are cool and you won’t be dipping in any swimming pools, but with temperatures dropping to 16°C (61°F) during the day and with little rain, it is generally perfect for outdoor activities, especially horse-riding.

Five reasons to visit Cordoba :

1 - History: The city has an original Jesuit complex, today a well-preserved UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2 - Museums: Cordoba has some of the finest art galleries and museums in the country.

3 - Music: And no, not tango. That's from Buenos Aires. In Córdoba, the local favourite is cuarteto. You can check it out live at Sala del Rey.

4 - Estancias: Córdoba is one of the best places for horse riding in Argentina and has many excellent countryside estancias where you can ride enjoying the surrounding hills. Help participate in the estancia activities such as herding livestock or enjoy a polo lesson or match.

5 - Small Towns and Lovely Scenery: Just outside the city, rolling hills lead to tiny towns, several of which were founded by the Jesuits centuries ago and still show their historical roots. Visit the town of Alta Gracias where the Che Guevara Museum to see his modest childhood home.
