Cruises

A cruise is without doubt a wonderful way to see the area. A short cruise of three or four nights is perfect to incorporate into a larger itinerary. If you have more time then cruising down to Antarctica is a wonderful way to spend two ‘other worldly’ weeks.

The Mare Australis and Via Australis cruise ships will take you through the Magellan Straits as well as the Beagle Channel allowing you to explore one of the most breathtaking wilderness regions in the world:  Southern Patagonia, and Tierra del Fuego. Some of the cruises will also take you around Cape Horn. There is a great 3 night itinerary from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas in Chile. On this route, the Mare Australis departs from Ushuaia on Wednesday and arrives in Punta Arenas on Saturday. Alternatively the Via Australis departs from Ushuaia on Saturday and arrives in Punta Arenas on Tuesday.

There is also a 4 night cruise from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. On this route the Mare Australis departs from Punta Arenas on Saturday and arrives in Ushuaia on Wednesday. Alternatively the Via Australis departs from Punta Arenas on Tuesday and arrives in Ushuaia on Saturday.

New for 2009 the Crucero Australis group have built a new ship called the Stella Australis. The ship has larger cabins than the Via or Mare Australis, yet this larger ship will follow the same routes as the other two ships and will have three and four night itineraries.
