The Ibera wetlands are an enormous and spectacular subtropical ecosystem. The big expanse and subtropical climate has rainfall of 60 – 80 inches per annum. This together with other ecological factors has helped to create an extremely abundant plant biomass that grows alongside swamps, marshes and lakes, all interconnected by a network of channels and streams. To spend several hours on a boat with an experienced guide spotting the amazing birdlife and animals like the capybara is something not to be missed.
The Ibera Wetlands region can be visited all year round, but between December to February it will be very hot and so try and visit at other times of the year or else be prepared to take long siestas in the afternoon if you do!
