Yacutinga Lodge

The best way to get to know the Misiones selva is by staying at Yacutinga Lodge. Here you can sleep deeply in a little cabin buried in the jungle and then wake up to the most incredible birdsong. It is a bit of a mission to get here, but once in you won’t want to come out!

Yacuting Lodge is set in a 750-hectare private ecological reserve about an hour east of Iguazú National Park. While the reserve is much smaller than the National Park, its remaining (and recovering) subtropical rainforest provides a far more up-close-and-personal view of the natural environment. You are encouraged to remember that this isn’t a five star luxury hotel, you are definitely encouraged to get stuck in and the three day package is quite busy with lots to see and do (although you don’t have do it all).

Your excellent bilingual guides and local Guaraní tribesmen help make sense of all that is around you. There are resident biologists here able to provide scientific expertise combined with insights combined into hunting, fishing and medicinal plants. Take the wondrous boat trip down river: find caiman, plant a tree, spot birds from the treetop platform. At dusk, sit round the fire with a beer, before tucking into a delicious organic dinner lit by torches. Yacutinga Lodge is the magical complement to the Iguazú Falls. Remember that you cannot visit the Iguazú Falls directly from here; allow an additional night or two in Puerto Iguazú to visit them.
