Weather in Argentina
Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is right on the Atlantic coast and it can be rainy in the low season/winter months (May – October). In the summer it gets warm and sticky (November to March) and it has been known to hit a scorching 40°C (104°F). Late spring (October and November) and autumn (March to May) bring generally friendly weather with temperatures averaging 24°C (75°F) during the day.
All that said, rainfall is to be expected throughout the year, but it's generally far from torrential.
The North
The north of Argentina is fine to visit all year round. The summer months are from December to April and particularly hot in January and February. The Iguazú Falls area is sub-tropical.
From May to November, while the nights will be cold – the daytime temperatures will be pleasant, although not hot.
The arid north-western region can be very hot during the summer (December to February), while Mendoza province is temperate year-round.
The South
Patagonia is best visited from November until April, although the transitional months from September to November – spring – could also be nice. In December, January and February – the day time temperature could easily reach up to the 30s. March to April reveal the onset of autumn, but still nice times to visit.
The ski season in San Carlos de Bariloche runs from June until early September.
Part of Patagonia’s charm is its unpredictability. Four seasons in one day is not uncommon and you should be prepared for this.
