Imagine Brazil. Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach, The Amazon, Iguazu Falls, The Pantanal…. It is all here and waiting for you to visit!
Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world and thirty-five times the size of Great Britain. A huge country, spanning four time zones, it occupies roughly half of South America; just its Atlantic coastline is over 4,500 miles long. Brazil is without doubt one of the most attractive, intoxicating and exciting tailor-made holiday destinations in the world today. A great beach destination with images of white sandy beaches and turquoise seas jumping to mind, but there’s so much more to discover….
Brazilian History - Brazil was discovered by accident when a Portuguese expedition to India with 13 ships and 1200 crew, led by Pedro Alvares Cabral, swung too far westward in 1500. More…
Visas
Visas are not required by UK citizens, but US citizens do require a visa to visit Brazil.
When to Go
Summer is from December to March and winter is from June to September.
Brazil is a tropical country, but the climate varies considerably from region to region. In most of Brazil the summers are very hot. Temperatures can rise to 110°F (43°C) with high humidity.
Consider visiting Brazil in September or October when the weather is still good. The spring weather means warm days in São Paulo, Iguazu, and Rio and tropical heat everywhere else; in the Amazon and the Pantanal you will be there just before the wet season begins (in December). As an added bonus, in Rio you will be able to attend some of the samba school rehearsals as they get ready for Carnival (they start 4 months early!). Another good time for a visit is after Carnival (early to mid-Mar, depending on the dates) until May, when the weather is still lovely, but there are less other visitors around.
High season in Brazil lasts from the week before Christmas until Carnival (which falls sometime in Feb or early Mar depending on the year), towns and resorts are bustling as many Brazilians take their summer holidays. Other busy times of year include Easter week and the months of July - try and avoid these times if you can.

Getting There
Flight Time: approx 14 hrs to the coast line.
Direct flights are available to Rio and Sao Paulo from London Heathrow and Europe (via Amsterdam and Madrid) with KLM and Iberia. TAM – The Brazilian National airline offer a daily direct service to Sao Paulo from London Heathrow.
Due to the size of the country, internal flights are certainly the best way to get around. For example the flight from Sao Paulo to Manaus takes four hours.
British Airways now fly direct flights to Rio de Janeiro from London.
