Pousada Picinguaba is a beautiful, small hotel set overlooking stunning, forested coastline half way between Rio and Sao Paulo. The 10 comfortably simple, yet chic rooms overlook tropical gardens which surround the swimming pool. The food served is fresh and local. There are no other hotels in the vicinity and the surroundings are totally unspoilt. 

The tiny fishing village of Picinguaba is set on the edge of unspoiled Atlantic rainforest beneath tropical mountain peaks. Here you will gaze across turquoise bays and out to velvet green islands. Vast expanses of open beaches seemingly extend forever.

This relaxed, French-owned hotel encompasses the very best of Brazil – an ideal and tranquil place to recharge your batteries or to maybe use as a base to explore the area. You could take the hotel’s 40 ft schooner to nearby deserted islands and beaches, accompany a local guide though the rainforest to spectacular hidden waterfalls, visit beautiful Paraty (half an hour away) dive, fish, surf or sea kayak. In the evenings enjoy fresh Brazilian cuisine served at your candle-lit table overlooking the bay.

It is possible to visit for just 3 nights, but we recommend 5 to 7 nights to really appreciate and take in this wonderfully beautiful part of Brazil. The road stops at the nearby beach, a short trek through the forest leads you to Pousada Picinguaba's 10 whitewashed rooms, as serene and simple, as they are stylish.
