Two outdoor pools, set in tropical gardens, both with ocean view and there's a private beach within walking distance.As you tuck into homemade pastries and tropical juices on the cliffside terrace, you can't take your eyes off Rio de Janeiro and the open Atlantic. Thanks to Rio's sparkling lights, the view is equally dramatic at night, when the staff serve fresh seafood on your private patio.

But the view from inside is just part of the visual draw at boutique La Suite, whose seven rooms are playfully decorated in color themes ranging from blue to pink to black. The hotel has two swimming pools, one of them, a 66-ft. infinity that seems to transport you to the ocean below. When you feel like the real thing, hit the nearby private beach or zip over to Ipanema for some Brazilian sun worshipping.

Top chefs are now responsible for the delectations served on the terrace, poolside, or in the dining room with its hip Seventies furniture if you choose. Guests can also dine on their own private terrace. There’s hot food (based on what’s being prepared in the kitchen) and drinks available from 8am till late for the room service. The hotel bar serves exotic-fruit caipirinhas, taken on the terrace.
