Araras Eco Lodge

Araras Eco Lodge is south of Cuiaba, about three hours along the Transpantaneria Park Road and through some very typical swamplands. This pousada is simply built with wood, in keeping with the surroundings. There are 19 twin rooms, a few with double beds. While the accommodation is basic, the rooms have ceiling fans, air-conditioning, screened windows and bathrooms with shower.

Araras Eco Lodge is homely and friendly. Lots of the delicious food you will be offered here (vegetables, meat, cheese) is produced locally. Araras Eco lodge offers a variety of low environment impact activities, rich in adventure and excitement including horse-riding, jeep photo safaris and canoeing.The lodge also has a swimming pool, covered deck and large verandas strung with hammocks. There are two raised boardwalks through marshland which ideal for wildlife spotting, plus there are two high, treetop observation towers from which to view the surrounding landscape, especially at dawn and dusk.

Local numbers of the rare and spectacular hyacinth macaw have risen from 27 to 42 in the last six years through the protection of their natural breeding habitat within a protected area on the estate. The owner of Araras is heavily involved with maintaining the environmental quality of the area.
