Barra Mansa Lodge

The Barra Mansa Lodge is family run lodge catering both to fishing and eco tourism. The lodge is located at the confluence of the Vazante do Castelo and Negro rivers, 225km from Campo Grande. All rooms are in double occupancy with en-suite bathrooms. The food is excellent and the welcome to the lodge is legendary.

The lodge was built in the 1940s as a cattle ranch. In 1996 the grandson of the original settler set up an eco-tourism project at the ranch. The main fazenda has beautiful views of the river and the guestrooms have screened windows, air-conditioning and verandas. There is room for 16 guests. Activities offered include sport fishing, guided excursions to see the surrounding flora and fauna, horse-riding and bird watching.

Upon arrival you will be met at Campo Grande airport, taken to your private charter plane and looked after well until you fly back to Campo Grande at the end of the week. The in and out charter flight is a wonderful experience in itself. On any excursion you will be accompanied by an English speaking wildlife guide.

In terms of getting there you should take a domestic flight from Sao Paulo to Campo Grande (1hr 40 mins) followed by a private plane to Barra Mansa.

Children are welcome here and May to October is the best time to visit.
