Refugio da Ilha

Refugio da Ilha is a converted farmhouse in the south of the Pantanal about 145 miles west of Camp Grande on a river island and totally surrounded by lagoons and marshes. There are seven very comfortable en suite rooms for guests.

The wildlife is in abundance here and there are about 350 species of birds and 35 species of mammals (including the giant anteaters and otters, plus jaguars).

While staying here you should have the opportunity to tour by motorised canoe along the Salobre river, horse-riding through the marshes and hiking along the river banks. All these excursions will give you some excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Food is delicious and plentiful and prepared by your hosts.
