Skorpios III
The M/N Skorpios III is a deluxe ship for up to 125 passengers. There are 49 comfortable and modern ensuite cabins. The ship sets sail every Saturday evening from September to May from Puerto Natales on the Kaweskar Explorer’s Route. It takes you through stunning scenery of fjords, lush hills and icebergs.
Beginning and ending in Puerto Natales, the cruise will show you the channels and fjords that border the Southern Ice Field in Chilean Patagonia. It is considered to be the third largest reserve of fresh water on the planet and has the biggest and most spectacular glaciers in the southern hemisphere, including the San Rafael glacier – the most equatorial glacier to reach the sea.
Daily excursions by motorboat take you to explore the mainland whether that is to gaze in wonder at a glacier wall or find a hot spring to take a dunk in. Definitely one of the main highlights on a Skorpios cruise is the delicious fresh seafood which is prepared to traditional recipes. There is also a good selection of Chilean wines on board as well.
The 5 night/6 day itinerary departs from Puerto Natales (fly from Santiago down to Punta Arenas; it is a three hour road transfer to Puerto Natales, or fly direct to P.Natales) and sails in total 600 miles towards Campos de Hielo Sur glaciers, through the channels and fjords of the Magellan region, visiting the Pio XI and Amalia glaciers and the glaciers of the Asia y Calvo Fiord. You will also visit the village of Puerto Eden whose first inhabitants were called the Kaweskar - hence the name of the cruise.
If you have decided to have an additional night before the cruise, then you can also enjoy a courtesy visit to the
