The lodge
Each room has a bathroom, fully stocked mini-bars, most with private balconies, direct dial telephones and energy efficient air conditioning.

Facilities include two popular poolside restaurants, spa facilities.

Troops of squirrel monkeys swing through the trees near the outdoor bar, and iguanas sun themselves by the two pools (one for families, the other reserved for grown-ups).

The standard rooms are surprisingly large, with kitchens, separate bedrooms and garden views. It may be worth spending a bit more though for a deluxe room, which also has a balcony overlooking the entire coastline and a raised sleeping area - just lie back and enjoy the view.

Of the two restaurants, the more casual option is the poolside Rico Tico (where large buffet breakfasts are served). The other is Claro Que Sí, a seafood restaurant on the terrace hung with light fabrics and cooled by ocean breezes.

The hotel offers a full array of activities, including guided excursions into Manuel Antonio National Park, mangrove and ocean kayaking, horseback riding, tours to the nearby butterfly and private nature refuge, world class sport fishing, and white water rafting tours.
