You will then be transferred to the Arenal Volcano for a few days packed with activities. Visit Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Due to its high altitude – some 4,662 ft (1,440 m) above sea level – Monteverde is privileged to receive a steady supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture that they contain. Explore the fascinating Rincon de la Vieja volcano before relaxing on Tamarindo beach.

Itinerary

Day 1: Flight to San Jose.
Day at leisure. Enjoy exploring San Jose independently.

Day 2: Excursion to Tortuguero by land and boat
Cross the continental divide and the rainforest of the Braulio Carrillo National Park by bus until reaching the Caribbean lowlands. Lunch and hike in the forest upon arrival. Afterwards visit the Tortuguero Town by foot.

Day 3: Tortuguero National Park
Experience the awakening of the rain forest through boat tours in the narrow canals of the Tortuguero National Park. Toucans, caimans, turtles, monkeys and more…

Day 4: Transfer to the Arenal Volcano area
Crossing banana plantations transfer to the Arenal Volcano area. Enjoy time at your own leisure to explore the area.

Day 5: Arenal Volcano National Park
In the morning you will have a horseback riding experience to La Fortuna Waterfall. Time to swim! In the afternoon hike in the Arenal Volcano National Park on solidified lava trails and views to the Arenal Lake. Afterwards visit the Tabacon Hot Springs with dinner.

Day 6: Hike in the Tenorio National Park / Rio Celeste
Drive to the Guatuso lowlands and hike in the Tenorio National Park to see the Celeste River Waterfall and the origin of the light blue river and lagoon.

Day 7: Monteverde
Scenic transfer by boat across the Arenal Lake and transfer by bus to Monteverde atop de Continental Divide. Upon arrival naturalist hike through hanging bridges. ( Sky Walk )

Day 8: Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
Hike with a naturalist tour guide in the trails of the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve for birdwatching and nature observancy.

Day 9: Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area
Private transfer to the Rincon de la Vieja area. ( Las Pailas sector )

Day 10: Rincon de la Vieja National Park
Time at your own leisure for optional excursions. We recommend a hike on your own in Las Pailas trail of the Rincon de la Vieja National Park in order to see the wildlife and the volcanic activity consisting in boiling pots and lagoons.

Day 11: Transfer to Tamarindo Town
Rest of the day at your own leisure to explore the area.

Day 12: Tamarindo Beach
Day at your own leisure to enjoy the beach and your holidays.

Day 13: Tamarindo Beach
Day at your own leisure to enjoy the beach and your holidays.

Day 14: Transfer back to San Jose.
Morning at your own leisure. In the afternoon shuttle transfer to San Jose and overnight.

Day 15: Transfer to the airport in San Jose and flight back home.
