Hacienda Zuleta

Hacienda Zuleta is a great place to stay, allowing you to have a glimpse of an Ecuadorian life which over 4 centuries is steeped in pre-Columbian, Spanish and Ecuadorian traditions. There are 15 rooms available to guests.

The Hacienda Zuleta can be reached within two to three hours from the capital, Quito. The fertile Zuleta valley still supports its inhabitants and is sited as a model for farming and land use in Ecuador and all of the Andes. Today the working farm thrives and produces a wide range of products, including 5000 litres of milk per day, cheeses, barley, quinoa, potatoes, wheat, artichokes, organic vegetables, humus and wood and also boasts a wide variety of livestock, dairy cows, sheep and horses. Of special interest to many are visits to the private part of the house including Galo Plazas private library with more than 1,000 books in several languages, the embroidery workshop, a condor rehabilitation project, the trout farm and cheese factory. 

Zuleta was opened to a limited number of guests about 10 years ago so that public may enjoy the many wonders it holds. All the bedrooms are located in the main building of the hacienda, every room is a different shape and has its own charm. The rooms all have an en suite bathroom, a fireplace, plus beautiful garden and mountain views.

Horse-riding, hiking, mountain biking, visits to the hacienda’s condor rehabilitation project etc are all things which you can do whilst staying here, not to mention farm visits to the dairy, the cheese factory, the organic gardens etc.
