Hotel Plaza Grande

Hotel Plaza Grande is a newly reopened hotel in the colonial ‘old town’. This is an historic five star hotel on the corner of Plaza de la Independencia with 15 luxuriously finished and spacious suites, a spa with gym, sauna and massage room. There are also three restaurants.

In a $3.5 million restoration of the former Majestic hotel (which closed in 1970), this five-story neoclassic building uses only the best and furniture for each suite has been specially designed.

There are heated marble floors in the bathrooms while bath butlers can be summoned to infuse your jacuzzi with indigenous essences.  Every suite also has a flat screen tv, sound proofed windows etc. Room service is available twenty-four hours a day.

Quiteños are now returning to the ground-floor café and the cigar and cognac bars on the top floor. The restaurant La Belle Epoque—with its three-foot candelabras and huge sconces—is an overexuberant interpretation of the genre; the ambience is festive in the rustic vaulted-ceiling basement wine lounge, El Claustro. Flower arrangements of Ecuador's signature roses leave a delicious scent throughout the hotel.
