The Amazon | Tailor-made Luxury holidays to Ecuador
Even in our sophisticated age of the jet-set, the Amazon still remains very much a great unknown. The Amazon is a world of trees and water - life in an abundance unimaginable, its size is difficult to grasp. Much of the rainforest is physically unexplored even now. The Amazon Basin is the earth’s biggest freshwater ecosystem and reservoir for a fifth of our planet’s fresh water.
The Amazon River is 4007 miles in length from source to mouth and second only in length to the Nile. It is hot and wet here all year round. The average temperature is 30º C. Ecuador has an exemplary system of nature reserves and parks. There are 9 National Parks, five of which are in the Amazon watershed.

The dozens of rivers and tributaries eventually all flow into the Amazon River. A huge area of rainforest, the great majority of which is pristine primary forest. It is the perfect place to take a jungle trip and get to know something of this fragile ecosystem and the people who depend on it.
