Tailor-made holidays in beautiful Guatemala

Tailor-made holidays in Guatemala

Guatemala is a colourful and vibrant country which combines very well with a trip to Mexico and Belize. Given its relatively small size, it contains a lot to hold any visitors attention. The main attractions include Tikal near Flores in the north of the country – extraordinary Mayan ruins set in semi-tropical rainforest, the deep clear waters of Lake Atitlan in the Highland region, the famous market town of Chichicastenango and the beautiful city of Antigua with its colonial houses and cobbled streets. Then you may also want to pop over to the ruins at Copan which is just inside the border with Honduras.

There is diverse scenery, an abundance of wildlife and Mayan sites. Plus the other bonus is that the country is small enough for most sites to be reached by road transfer rather than by plane.

A visit to Guatemala combines really well with Belize, Costa Rica and also Mexico. As an example you can easily fly into Guatemala City, then fly to San Jose, Costa Rica (c. 2 hr flight) and then return directly home from there.

Visas
British Passport Holders do not require a visa to enter Guatemala but also make sure that your passport has at least six months to run from when you return back into the UK.

When to Go
The Dry Season runs from the November to early May. September is the wettest month. The rainy season (end of May to October) generally means that there will be afternoon showers. The weather is generally quite mild and temperatures don’t vary too much throughout the year. In the jungle, it is hot and humid for most of the year.
