Posada de las Flores

Posada de las Flores, near to the main square in Loreto is a pretty pink hacienda type hotel with a pool on the roof in this quiet fishing town. There are 10 standard rooms and 5 junior suites.

Most people arrive here from La Paz much further down south and though the twisting mountain road is enough to put anyone off, the drive is worth it. This little pousada is a big reward. There are loads of plants all around the place and lovely flowers etc This pousada is elegant and stylish. There are thick wooden doors and wrought-iron sofas. The décor is distinctly in a colonial style.

Just note that this is not the place to come to if you are looking for lively nightlife etc. The fishing town is proverbially sleepy and there’s not masses going on beyond the witching hour. There are however some good restaurants within walking distance.

No children under 12 are allowed and the place generally seems to attract couples and also honeymooners.

November-March are the coolest months with day time temperatures in the 70sF and evenings becoming chilly, especially in January and February. April, May and June are hot and sunny (80-90sF); July and August can be extremely hot and humid with temperatures frequently nudging 100F in the Southern Baja region.

The hotel is closed in September when the pensinsula is prone to hurricanes and downpours (October is also susceptible); the rest of the year is generally dry and sunny.

The main whale-watching season is January-March; for the best fishing visit June through August.

We recommend you stay for at least one or two days and longer if you use Loreto as a base for fishing, kayaking, whale-watching or diving excursions.

"The most luxurious place to stay in Loreto conveniently sits adjacent to the main square, in the heart of historic Loreto. Every room is beautifully decorated with fine Mexican arts and crafts, including heavy wood doors, Talavera pottery, painted tiles, candles, and Mexican scenic paintings.”
