Maroma Resort & Spa

Maroma Resort & Spa is a lovely Orient Express property set on a long and idyllic beach and 20 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. Imagine eating breakfast as you gaze out across the ocean..  This property finds the balance between being quite formal and yet also relaxed. The original house (part of the coconut plantation) has been kept and additional rooms have been added around the large and manicured grounds. 

Should you tire of lazing around and reading, then you may like to have a go at snorkelling (included in price), diving, visit some of the nearby Maya ruins at Tulum, vist the spa or play tennis. There are also three swimming pools scattered through the gardens so you can choose where you go for a dip.

All bedrooms have a CD player, air-conditioning and ceiling fan and mosquito nets. No TV or phones are present in the rooms, although it is possible to find out about the outside world if you so wish. Most have terrace, or balcony, with hammock.

Maroma is open all year round, but will be at its quietest in the rainy season of September and October. Children are not permitted. Breakfast is included, but lunch and dinner are not. Playa del Carmen is just a half hour’s drive away and so it is quite nice to go out to a bar or restaurant on some nights although the resort does have its own restaurant and bar.

The beach here has often been voted the best beach in the world. Maroma is perfect for a honeymoon or a well deserved rest.
