The Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya

The Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya opened right at the end of 2007 and is set in 36 acres of jungle, mangrove swamps and crystal clear water from natural lagoons, fronting the white sand beaches of the Maya Riviera. The resort’s centre-piece is rather uniquely a deep freshwater reservoir sacred to the ancient Maya.

The Mandarin Oriental’s 128 resort villas are placed along natural walkways that blend into the secluded setting and tropical surroundings. All rooms have great views of the cenote, lagoon, waterways or the Caribbean. For total privacy each room has its own private terrace or garden, some with individual plunge pool and all with secluded garden bathrooms.

The Spa features 11 treatment rooms, a state of the art fitness centre, yoga room and heated outdoor lap pool.

The resort is ideally situated 10 mins North of Playa del Carmen in the bustling Riviera Maya with its dining, entertainment, boutiques, and just 30 mins drive from Cancun International Airport.

The room interiors have definite Asian influences and tropical flair, using native exotic woods and stone, bamboo floors, marble and Mexican art. A variety of restaurants and bars serve an eclectic selection of international and regional cuisine in settings inspired by outstanding ocean views, al fresco seating and dynamic design.

Children are welcomed. There is a kids club for 4 – 8yr olds.

Mid November to May is the very best time to visit the Caribbean coast. June to November can be affected by tropical storms, but September and October are possibly the worst affected times.
