The Casa de Sierra Nevada really captures the essence of colonial Mexico in truly luxurious surroundings. The accommodation is in six exquisitely restored mansions which were built in the 16th century. Guest rooms boast wood-burning fires or sunny terraces and room service is maintained with impeccable standards across the quaint cobbled streets connecting the houses.
Casa de Sierra Nevada is now an Orient Express property with its own cookery school. There is a magnificent heated swimming pool, delightfully set in a gardened courtyard, plus a gourmet restaurant, one of the most highly regarded in the country.
The suites with private terraces are particularly nice, but each room at Casa de Sierra Nevada has its own unique style and all are very comfortable.
Only teenagers over the age of 16 years old are accepted in the hotel, so it is very much an adult only environment.
“With picturesque terraces and courtyards bedecked in flowers and plants, some affording charming views and considerable privacy, this place feels like a true getaway from the modern world.”
