Riding in Mexico
Riding in
This trail ride takes you through a fairly remote and beautiful part of central
Your charming hosts, Pepe and Lucia, are Mexican, but both speak fluent English. They are the owners of Finca Enyhe and one or other will accompany each ride. Their knowledge of the country, the flora and fauna add an enormous amount to the ride. They also have lots of stories of the characters, some good, some not so good, who have shaped this land.
Accommodation at the Finca is in very comfortable twin or double bedded en-suite spacious rooms, beautifully furnished in the colonial Mexican style. These are surrounded by lush gardens with an amazing variety of plants, flowers and fruit trees. In the evening the picturesque town of Valle de Bravo with its cobbled streets and many small restaurants and bars is all a short walk away.
Between our autumn and spring is the perfect time to visit – the dry season. Days are warm with clear skies. Mornings and evenings can be fresh, especially in December and January when you will be glad of a wood fire in the rooms.
A real highlight between November and February is a ride to the Monarch Butterfly sanctuary. Here millions of butterflies that have migrated from eastern
The horses are Trakhener, Thoroughbred/ Quarterhorse cross and Mexican Criollo. They range from 15 to 17 hh and from rock steady to the spirited. Tack is a choice of English, Trail Saddles, Western or the local Mexican Charro (similar to a Western saddle). All have comfortable sheepskin seat savers and saddlebags.
“Lucia and Pepe are great hosts and this is a lovely holiday. Whether you are a rider or not - a stay at Finca Enhye will be a treat.”
