Hotel Monasterio

The Hotel Monasterio, an Orient-Express hotel is the ideal base from which to discover Cusco and the ancient ruins at Machu Picchu, which can be reached via a spectacular three-hour train journey. The 16th century Hotel Monasterio lies at the heart of Cusco and was originally built as a monastery in 1592.

It was converted into a hotel in 1995. Staying here is arguably a highlight of any trip to Peru and we recommend at least a two night stay. With cloistered courtyards, very comfortable rooms (some of which have oxygen) and you can be assured that you are staying in one of the most stylish addresses in Cusco.

There are 127 guest rooms, including twenty deluxe suites all with décor and furnishings in a style with combines the very best of modern amenities with a flavour of traditional Spanish colonial flair.

The room rate includes breakfast only, but the hotel’s own El Tupay and IIIariy restaurants provide delicious meals or there are some great places to discover in town should you prefer.

Check-in is at 11 am and checkout is at 09.00.
