Lake Titicaca is located on the border of Bolivia and Peru. It sits 3,812 m (12,507 ft) above sea level making it the highest commercially navigable lake in the world. By volume of water it is also the largest lake in South America. Lake Titicaca is fed by rainfall and meltwater from glaciers on the sierras that abut the Altiplano, which explains the beautiful clear blue waters.

At
Lake Titicaca you can visit the famous floating
Uros
Islands, made from the totora reeds which are ubiquitous in the lake, or you can overnight on Taquile and Amantani two of the most interesting islands where the inhabitants speak Quechua only and where there are no roads, nor electricity.
The lake is also a good place for spotting wildlife and protected plant species.
