Our 2 week northern itinerary is best suited to those who have been to Peru before and have seen the main sights of Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca.  Northern Peru holds many treasures with its rich cultural heritage and impressive scenery. See Chan Chan, the pre-Inca adobe city close to colonial Trujillo, enjoy the unspoilt colonial charm of Cajamarca, set in flowery countryside. Visit Kuelap, huge mountain-top temple-fortress of the Chachapoyans, Chiclayo and the Lord of Sipán  - remarkable pre-Columbian art.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Day flight to Lima, arriving in the evening.

Days 2-3: Morning flight to Trujillo, explore the Chimú site of Chan Chan and other adobe temples.

Day 4: Climb the Andes by bus to the city of Cajamarca.

Day 5: Explore the colonial city, nearby thermal springs and pre-Inca aqueducts at Cumbe Mayo.

Day 6: Continue by private vehicle over the Andes to the village of Leimebamba.

Day 7: Visit the 'mummy museum', optional hike to the burial chambers at Revash, then continue by vehicle to El Chillo.

Day 8: Short drive to the mountain-top fortress of Kuelap, and continue to Chachapoyas.

Day 9: Optional visits to the sarcophagi at Karijia or the Gocta Falls, continue to the village of Jaen.

Day 10: Travel to the coastal town of Chiclayo by private vehicle, and visit the 'Lord of Sipan' museum and nearby temples.

Day 11: Early morning flight to Lima. Afternoon tour to the Inca site of Pachacamac.

Day 12: Depart Lima

Day 13: Arrive UK
