Aqua Expeditions
M/V Aqua is a first class luxury boat on the northern Amazon bringing an African safari-style experience to Peru.
If you like to experience your nature with a bit of luxury then this is your opportunity to board the first luxury cruise boat on the northern Amazon. Aqua is 40 metres (or 130 ft) long and has 12 air-conditioned and oversized guest suites, all with en suite sitting areas and generous outward-facing panoramic windows. 4 of the suites have 180 degree panoramic-view windows. Each cabin has a shower room and vast comfy beds. The Aqua is not just a boat, she is in fact a comfortable floating hotel.
You will be exploring the remote Pacaya Samiria Reserve where there are thousands of species of flora and fauna to be seen, including playful pink Amazon dolphins and three-toed sloths.
There 3, 4 and 7 night cruises which depart from Iquitos, an interesting place which can only be accessed by boat or plane. Iquitos was once a once-prosperous rubber industry boom town and is now best described as being in a state of decaying grandeur.
Every day there are excursions or safaris (if you prefer) heading off with a guide in an eight-seat boat which will allow you to travel deeper into the forest down the smaller tributaries. When the river is in flood, all the hiking paths are deep underwater and so all explorations are made by boat.
We believe that sailing the Amazon offers a wonderfully different holiday - the sort we like! Imagine enjoying a gourmet dinner for two after a day in the jungle, or sharing a bottle of champagne whilst watching the sun set over the world’s mightiest river, or waking up in your bed to see the colours of the jungle through your panoramic window. This trip would also make a wonderful honeymoon destination.
