Galapagos Cruises

Pina Colada maker onboard the Letty - one of Ecoventura's great motor yachts
The exact nature of your visit to The Galapagos will depend on the type of yacht you choose. There are usually boat cruises of 3, 4 or 7 nights in length. We suggest that to fully appreciate all that the islands have to offer, a week long cruise would be the best option.

Private charters for the smaller vessels are also possible – a perfect option for a group of friends or family.

It is advisable to book at least nine to twelve months in advance or as early as possible for the greatest choice of boats. Whilst some people are able to book 18 months in advance, we appreciate that not everybody can commit so far in advance. If you are booking ‘late’ - i.e within 4 months - availability does become very limited, but please still contact us and will do our best for you.

On a typical cruise, as well as the land trails, you will also have an opportunity to  swim and snorkel, perhaps even being joined by sea lions. Dive cruises are generally kept separate from naturalist cruises - please ask us if this is a particular wish and see ‘Skydancer’ for an idea of the sort of boat available. If you enjoy scuba-diving and are an experienced diver, you will find the Galapagos to be one of the premier dive destinations in the world.

Most boats cruise around the islands in a figure-of-eight pattern, completing one loop in 5 days and the other in 4 days giving passengers a choice of 4, 5 or 9 day itineraries. The majority of boats visit the main islands. Half a day is spent at either end of your cruise flying from/to the mainland. Longer distances are covered at night, arriving at a new island the following day, ensuring that your time visiting the Galapagos Islands is put to the best use. There are usually two daily excursions off the boat.

We have listed some of our favourite boats, but there are a lot of motor yachts in the Galapagos and if there is one that you have heard about or that has been recommended to you and which is not in our list, let us know and we should be able to book it for you, subject to availability.

There are boats for all occasions and some are more suitable for families, specifically children, than others. Single travellers also need to be careful as some boats have a hefty single supplement and single cabins are a rarity.

Choosing your boat in the Galapagos is key to your enjoyment of the islands and as ever there is a choice to be made. The choice often depends on the state of your sea legs! More…
